Montimerso SkyScape CountryHouse

Montimerso Skyscape Countryhouse is a rural tourism establishment in Monsaraz that opened its doors in June 2020.
This is a project by a couple who are enthusiastic about travelling and encountering other cultures, locals and travellers, and in particular, genuine places with remarkable nature. For years they have travelled both within and outside of Portugal and often thought that there were places in Portugal with these characteristics that were still little known. So, on their travels through the interior of the country they looked for the ideal place. It was a surprise to find a real montado in the middle of the Alentejo, with the diversity of species that characterize it, with a stunning view over the Alqueva, within the DarkSky® Alqueva reserve and next to the town of Monsaraz.
They looked for local partners, with knowledge of the region and local culture, to design a project that respected nature, culture and valued the montado.

It opened its doors in June, with 11 rooms (35m²), 4 suites (42m²), these with a private pool, and 2 apartments
(T1 and T2) for practical and longer stays, with the surrounding environment of calm and tranquility of
signature Montimerso.

The rooms have minimalist decor, focusing on the living landscape outside the windows. They are divided into
divided into two wings: the Alqueva Wing, with direct access to the largest artificial lake in Europe, and the Monsaraz Wing,
with a view of the village of Monsaraz, far away on the hill, with memories made of lime, shale and stories of kings
and knights who walked its streets.

The outdoor infinity pool at the top of the property makes time stand still. Breathing in and out, listening and slowing down are
the exercises that are invited there. Walking through the terrain, among the holm oak groves, you can hear life in the
early morning hours: birds, rabbits, wild boars and other local fauna. When doing some of the trails
marked here, will pass through our vegetable garden and orchard, still in the growth phase, from where, in the future,
we will harvest fresh produce.

It is at the Skyscape Restaurant that breakfasts take place, which are intended to be calm and long,
also the meeting point for light meals during the day. At dinner, for those looking for the comfort of
Alentejo cuisine, our chef creates a daily menu of snacks with the best and freshest products from
region. A slow food space to enjoy meals combined with the view.

We are at the Darksky® Alqueva reserve, the first Starlight Tourism Destination in the world, certified by
UNESCO. Under this special blanket of stars there will be no shortage of night outings to observe the
stars and telescopic viewing from marked points on the property.

We are sustainable from the conception and construction of the project, thinking about energy efficiency and
adoption of efficient resource management models. We promote sustainability with energy production
own self-consumption regime, use of rainwater, and reduction of light pollution, with
with a view to protecting and improving the ecosystem.
The experiences we provide, designed together with local companies to ensure tradition and
authenticity of the region, were designed so that every minute is enjoyed: stargazing, boat trips
boat on Lake Alqueva, balloon rides, trails around the estate, bike rides, horse riding, races
wines, dinners under the stars, picnics and massages. All activities are subject to
